Becoming An RV Volunteer

The RV Volunteer program (previously known as RV MAPS) is a nationwide network of volunteers organized by Assemblies of God U.S. Missions through Church Mobilization. RV Volunteers — most often retired individuals traveling in their own RVs — use their skills to help renovate, repair, and build churches and ministry facilities across the United States.  Their service saves ministries millions of dollars and helps churches grow and reach their communities.

NOT A REQUIREMENT

  • Owning an RV:  Some churches may be able to offer housing at the church or with church members.  Volunteers may also choose to pay for a hotel or other lodging if desired.

  • Traveling across the country:  While projects are available nationwide, RV Volunteers are free to choose their own projects. You may choose to participate only in projects in your own state or region if you prefer.
  • Being Retired:  Although many RV Volunteers are retired, the program is open to adults of all ages.

  • License as a tradesperson:  While skilled tradespeople are extremely valuable, volunteers of all skill levels are welcome. RV Volunteers can choose from available projects and participate in those that best match their skills, interests, and comfort level.

  • Working for Months at a Time:  The suggested minimum is two weeks of volunteering per year; however, RV Volunteers may serve for a weekend, a week, or longer—whatever fits their schedule.

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE RV VOLUNTEER PROGRAM:

  • Get access to the nation-wide project list from which you can choose which projects to assist.

  • Use your skills and energy to help churches and ministries complete needed projects.

  • Help save churches thousands of dollars in labor costs, allowing projects to move forward that might not otherwise be possible.

  • Encourage pastors and leaders by easing practical burdens.

  • Be part of work that creates spaces where lives are changed and faith grows.

  • Build meaningful relationships while serving and traveling with purpose.

  • Enjoy free RV sites at active project locations and, often, meals are provided during project days.

  • Receive an RV Volunteer ID card and Red Vest

  • Invitations to attend RV Volunteer Rallies (registration and fees may apply)

As an RV Volunteer, you become part of something far greater than a construction project — you become part of God’s work in strengthening churches and reaching communities. Your willingness to serve allows pastors and leaders to focus on ministry instead of repairs and reminds them that they are not alone. Through your skills, presence, and prayers, you bring hope, encouragement, and practical help to churches that may not otherwise have the resources to move forward. Many RV Volunteers share that the relationships formed along the way—with fellow volunteers, church members, and local leaders—are just as impactful as the work itself. Every project completed helps create spaces where lives can be changed, faith can grow, and the Kingdom of God can continue to move forward — truly Building Churches, Changing Lives.
